Race For Good is an event by The Salvation Army, dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds in support of critical programmes, initiatives, infrastructure, and operations. These efforts directly benefit vulnerable communities in Singapore, including children and youth, the elderly, ex-offenders and their families, as well as migrant workers under our care, many of whom continue to face hardship and isolation.
Race For Good returns this festive season after a successful competitive running event and family carnival held at Coney Island for the first time ever on 20th September 2025. This time around, we are launching a virtual run, providing an inclusive and meaningful way for the community to come together to do good during the season of giving. In the true spirit of Christmas, your contributions will touch the lives of those who need it the most.
Join us in celebrating 90 years of The Salvation Army in Singapore – Whether you’re a seasoned runner or simply enjoy taking strolls in the park, your steps can spark change.

Anna’s Story of Hope & Healing
At 10 years old, Anna*, carries a world too heavy for her small shoulders to bear.
Home is a rental flat in Geylang Bahru, a modest unit shared with her parents, older sister and little brother. Every day, her parents work tirelessly to make ends meet, often leaving Anna* feeling unseen, as the quiet middle child who tucks her pain away behind shy smiles. There were moments when emotions would overwhelm her; feelings of frustration and sadness she never learned to express. Some days, those feelings turned inward, leaving marks invisible to others but deeply felt.
When she first joined The Salvation Army’s Youth Development Centre (YDC) at the start of this year, Anna hardly said a word, but she found something she had been longing for – a safe space where she could simply be a child.
Through creative hobbies guided by YDC staff – painting, colouring and slime-making – she learnt to express herself in healthy ways, letting her feelings flow gently instead of keeping a storm within. These activities helped her discover ways to regulate her emotions which opened her heart to a world of compassion and joy when she was able to connect with her peers. Seeing the light return to Anna’s face, her older sister felt encouraged to join in. Now, they take part in activities that bring rare moments of happiness to their days; moments where they feel truly safe and loved.
“I always have fun at YDC”, and “I like hanging out with my friends there”, shares Anna – words that are a powerful testament to healing when a child is able to feel safe and seen.
For children facing similar circumstances to Anna, YDC is more than just an after-school programme. It’s a sanctuary where hearts are mended through kindness and care.
As we gather with our family and friends this holiday, let us remember the vulnerable children in our community – the little hearts who long for the same warmth and love that many of us have in our homes. Your gift can help make that possible.
With your kind support, The Salvation Army can continue to be a place where children and youth feel valid and cared for. Every donation, no matter big or small, brings comfort to a vulnerable individual who needs it most.
This season of giving, we invite you to share the light of Christmas with our community who may not have the same privileges we do.
